Hello,
My name is Ann-Sophie and I am the face behind Sewing with Solana.
My sewing journey started in 2020, lockdown got the best of me and I got my moms old sewing machine out and started turning my grandpas old shirts into dresses and my moms curtains into skirts.
At first I thought sewing would be just a nice way to pass my time but quickly I realised how much joy it's bringing me to create my own clothes and find an outlet for my creativity.
One year later I started my made-to-order brand Solana Handmade which has turned into something much bigger than I could have ever dreamed of. I wanted to create ethical and sustainable clothes without being another brand that overproduces and creates clothes that don't fit and because I love sewing so much I decided to create clothes on a made-to-order basis. You place your order then I start production, one garment at a time.
My goal of hopefully selling a few pieces a month turned into selling out within minutes , celebrities wearing my handmade clothes and to being featured in online magazines.
In the summer of 2023 I decided it's time to leave my old life a that I loved so much behind and move from Barcelona to Australia. Not an easy decision to make, not only because it meant saying goodbye to my friends but also having to put my clothing brand on hold for a while.
I knew moving to Australia was the right decision but once I settled into my new life I knew that I am exactly where I am meant to be.
While my brand Solana Handmade was on hold I decided to teach you what I have learned about sewing over the last years. I know how special it is to create my own clothes, to get complimented for something I made with my own hands and I want to pass that feeling on to you.
Sewing your own clothes can be intimidating at first but I promise you it's so much easier and so much more fun than you can imagine and I am here to figure it all out with you, teach you everything step by step and share all my know how's with you.
